Cloudy With a Chance of MeatballsCloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is based on the children’s book by Judi Barrett. It follows a young inventor, Flint Lockwood, who is always trying to invent something to help everyone, yet always comes up short. When his town is doomed to eat only sardines, Flint sets out to invent a machine that turns water into food and this is when the madness ensues.

I remember reading the book when I was a kid and wishing how it would come true. This movie really lets you experience food raining from the sky. You feel like you may need to take cover from a downpour of pizza or pull out an umbrella for raining jelly beans. Bill Hader plays Flint Lockwood and does an amazing job. Flint is a lovable nerd who just wants to help everyone through his inventions. This is a family film but it is suitable for all ages. I found myself laughing throughout the entire movie. The sense of humor is something that both kids and adults alike can enjoy.

The 3D effects in this movie are stunning. They are the best I have seen so far. You can tell a lot of hard work, and detail went into every aspect of this movie. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs lets you go into Flint’s world through the screen. You feel like you are walking down a hallway with Flint, or grabbing at a falling hamburger. I must say all the falling food looked so delicious that by the end of the movie I was starving.

This is an excellent movie for all ages. I walked out of the theater feeling a bit like a kid, wishing that maybe…just maybe a hamburger would rain from the sky.

Movie: 4/5
3D Experience: 4.5/10
